アクリル画材、スチレンボード、砂、綿布、木製パネル
深淵に灯る灯台の光は、果たしてどのような未来を
照らし出すのでしょうか。
本作は、力強く未来へ泳いでいくクジラたちの姿を
描いた作品です。このクジラたちは私たちを未来へ
運ぶ「生命の方舟」です。
画面下部のうねる帯は、雨を降らせる「前線」です。
現代の「雨雲レーダー」と、古より雨の神と言われ
てきた「龍」を重ね合わせて視覚化しました。また、
画面を区切る白い柱は漫画のコマのように、現在か
ら未来への転換を表現しています。
パール色に輝く未来のシーンが暗示するのは「希望」
です。長雨や豪雨など、地球温暖化による環境変化
への不安は尽きませんが、希望の光は未来から私た
ちを照らしています。
作品は、モデリングペーストや砂によって、大地の
ざらざらとした質感を表現しています。鯨たちの造
形では、地図の等高線を立体化するイメージでスチ
レンボードを重ねて、隆起した大地を表現していま
す。

獣医学科を卒業後、鯨類調査員を経て作家となる。アクリル画材を中心としたミクストメディア作品を制作する。
自然をテーマとし、主なモチーフは鯨類、地図、細胞。

What kind of future will the light of the lighthouse
shining into the abyss illuminate?
This work depicts whales swimming powerfully
toward the future. These whales are the “Ark of
Life” that carries us into the future.
The undulating band at the bottom of the screen
represents a “weather front” that brings rain. It
visualizes the overlay of modern “rain cloud radar”
and the “dragon,” which has been revered as the
god of rain since ancient times. Additionally, the
white columns dividing the screen, like panels in a
manga, represent the transition from the present to
the future.
The pearl-colored scenes of the future symbolize
“hope.” While our anxieties about environmental
changes caused by global warming—such as
prolonged rains and torrential downpours—are
endless, a light of hope shines upon us from the
future.
The work uses modeling paste and sand to convey
the rough, gritty texture of the earth. In sculpting
the whales, layers of styrene board were stacked
to create a three-dimensional effect reminiscent of
contour lines on a map, thereby depicting a rugged,
undulating landscape.
