アクリル画材、スチレンボード、砂、綿布、木製パネル
たとえ今は困難に直面していても、明日へと開かれ
た窓には光が満ちています。
作中のシャチは、大雨の降りしきる世界から、暖か
な光があふれる明日に泳いでいこうとしています。
このシャチは、私たちを運びながら未来へと泳ぐ
「生命の方舟」です。背景の描写は、雨雲レーダー
で示される線状降水帯を伴う前線を表わし、現代と
いう時代を写しています。
作品は、モデリングペーストや砂によって、大地の
ざらざらとした質感を表現しています。シャチの造
形では、地図の等高線を立体化するイメージでスチ
レンボードを重ねて、隆起した大地を表現しています。
■木白枚プロフィール
獣医学科を卒業後、鯨類調査員を経て作家となる。アクリル画材を中心としたミクストメディア作品を制作する。
自然をテーマとし、主なモチーフは鯨類、地図、細胞。

Even if we’re facing difficulties right now, the
window opening onto tomorrow is filled with light.
In this work, the orca is swimming toward a
tomorrow filled with warm light, away from a world
drenched in heavy rain. This orca is an “ark of life”
that carries us as it swims toward the future. The
background depicts a weather front accompanied
by a linear precipitation zone, as shown on a rain
cloud radar, reflecting the modern era.
The work uses modeling paste and sand to express
the rough, gritty texture of the earth. In sculpting
the orca, layers of styrene board were stacked to
create a three-dimensional representation of map
contour lines, depicting a rugged, undulating
landscape.
